Over 60 athletes start training for the BOV Volleyball Marathon
Preparations for this year’s BOV Volleyball Marathon are gathering momentum as more than 60 athletes have officially started training for the highly anticipated fundraising event in aid of Id-Dar tal-Providenza.
Over the coming weeks, these athletes will be put through a series of training sessions and trials as they compete for a place among the final 40 players who will take on the incredible challenge of participating in the 53-hour volleyball marathon.
Training is designed to prepare players both physically and technically for the demands of the event. Sessions include a combination of volleyball drills, fitness exercises, endurance work, and team-building activities, all aimed at ensuring participants are ready for one of Malta’s most unique sporting fundraisers.
One of the most encouraging aspects of this year’s volleyball marathon preparations is the mix of talent involved. The training squad includes both newcomers eager to experience the event for the first time and seasoned participants who have already taken part in multiple editions of the BOV Volleyball Marathon.
The first significant milestone for the athletes will take place this weekend with the much-anticipated 12-hour night trial.
This endurance challenge will give organisers the opportunity to evaluate players under conditions that more closely reflect the demands of the volleyball marathon itself. It will also allow athletes to test their physical and mental resilience while gaining valuable experience ahead of the final selection process.
With the countdown well underway, excitement continues to build as players work towards securing their place in this year’s event.
The BOV Volleyball Marathon in aid of Id-Dar tal-Providenza will take place between 16th and 18th July. For the first time ever, the volleyball marathon will be hosted at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali, setting the stage for what promises to be one of the biggest and most memorable editions yet.
Stay tuned for more updates as the road to the BOV Volleyball Marathon 2026 continues.
