Press Release

A record sum of €707,586 was raised during the 16th edition of the BOV Volleyball Marathon, which was held for the first time at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali between Thursday, 16 July, and Saturday, 18 July 2026.

Forty players, forming 5 teams, played continuously for 53 hours. The marathon, which began on Thursday evening, was officially inaugurated by H.E. Dr Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta.

Mgr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, thanked the Maltese people, who once again responded with great generosity to the appeal for funds for this fundraising campaign. He also expressed his gratitude to the players, volunteers, the organising committee, sponsors, television stations that broadcasted the event, presenters, singers and bands, the police, the Armed Forces of Malta Band, and all those who contributed in one way or another to the marathon’s success.

Since its establishment in 1965, Id-Dar tal-Providenza has provided residential services to persons with disabilities within a supportive environment.

On behalf of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, THANK YOU
