First Phase of Player Training Concludes with 24 Hour Trial
The journey to this year’s BOV Volleyball Marathon reached another important milestone as the 60 athletes hoping to secure a place in the fundraising event completed a demanding 24-hour trial.
Held at the grounds of Id-Dar tal-Providenza between Saturday and Sunday, the endurance challenge marked the final assessment before the selection of the 40 players who will take part in this year’s volleyball marathon.
Throughout the trial, players were divided into teams and rotated on and off the court while the coaching staff closely monitored their performances. Athletes were assessed on a range of criteria, including technical ability, physical endurance, teamwork, and how they responded to fatigue and pressure during the 24-hour challenge.
This trial is one of the crucial stages of the selection process, giving every player one final opportunity to impress the coaching staff and earn a place among the Top 40 athletes.
The Next Phase Begins
The final squad of forty players will be announced over the coming days, with those selected moving on to the next phase of preparations for the BOV Volleyball Marathon.
From this point onwards, the players will be divided into five teams and will continue training together over the next three weeks. The focus will shift towards team chemistry, strategy, and endurance as they prepare for the ultimate challenge, playing continuously throughout the 53-hour volleyball marathon.
Every training session brings the players one step closer to one of Malta’s most inspiring sporting fundraising events, where determination, teamwork, and community spirit come together in support of Id-Dar tal-Providenza.
The BOV Volleyball Marathon will take place between Thursday 16th and Saturday 18th July at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali, which will host the event for the very first time.
